Official Warhammer lore is impressively deep and shockingly diverse, spreading across just about every kind of artistic medium. Like any franchise, fans have made and spun their own takes on the Warhammer universe, and I am a sucker for a good story.
The Sunfire Spear is supposedly the weapon of the great archangel, known only through legend. If that’s not the kind of thing you want decorating your game room then I don’t know what is!

Dig a Little Deeper
Warhammer is a licensed franchise, and many of the designs we’ve looked at here are fan-made. Naturally, there are copyright implications to using official terms and titles.
You could be overwhelmed by simply searching ‘Warhammer’ on any given site. While you’ll still find some excellent STL files for minifigures like what we’ve seen here, there are far more files out there that have avoided official terminology for fear of having their designs taken down.
To help with this article, I dug deep into the searches and followed a lot of new collections from artists who avoided patented names and terms. So don’t give up if you don’t find what you want on first glance, there’s always more out there!
Be Aware of your Printer’s Limitations
A great draw of Warhammer is how highly detailed the figures are. Naturally, we’ve seen a lot of similarly defined designs here.
It’s important to recognize what your 3D printer is capable of to avoid disappointment. Standard FDM printers won’t be able to match the quality of more expensive or top-of-the-line resin printers.
While you’ll still get what you’re after, don’t get your hopes too high for professional-grade Warhammer 3D prints if you feel your printer just isn’t up to the task.
Know How to Post-Process Your Prints
Even if you get the perfect print, you’ll probably still want to be careful that you don’t mess it up in post-processing.

While I'm preparing all the parts for the diorama I'm working on, I decided to print and color the next miniatures that I liked. There are 12 in total, but I decided to make them in two batches of 6. As always, write that the bases are underformed. There is nothing to decorate with, unfortunately nothing worked, and a diorama can be made, roughly speaking, from shit and sticks, but for the minks, I still haven’t figured out how to stir up the design of the bases. so being afraid to spoil them, I decided to leave it until the time I earn money for corporate design. I will make the bushes myself. homemade flokator almost on the way. :)
Homa paint, if someone is aware of this brand and it is complete darkness, there was an opportunity for Citadel to paint a little and now I can’t look at my acrylic without tears.

I'm sorry for the quality, I took a picture on slippers.
It turned out to be a bit large in comparison with the original, but quite good (the beam on the halo was slightly bent). Detailing is decently eaten up, especially on the face. But the steps are almost invisible (a little on the wings).
I got tired of removing the props with wire cutters, it's scary to damage the model. After that, I went and bought a grinding and engraving machine, let's see how it will turn out with it. The model, well baked with ultraviolet light, turned out to be quite durable for breaking, but if you drop it, it will most likely break.
In general, as a proxy, it will do. But in general it is gratifying that even home printers produce such quality. A servo-skull holding a halo was even imprinted there, hanging from the back on a wire 1 mm thick.

These are no longer just small table soldiers, but heroes with their own unique history.

Miniatures come in different sizes: from 6mm and more. The most popular today is the 28mm format.
The creation of such figurines is really almost jewelry work.
A 3D printer will help not only in the production of miniatures, but also in related areas, such as the creation of figurines, details of game locations, or, for example, elements of dioramas. To understand the advantages of 3D printing over classical manufacturing methods, it is worth remembering how such models are usually made at home.
Advantage of 3D printing for miniatures
Not everyone was ready to shell out a substantial amount for the purchase of a set of table soldiers, and sometimes the necessary heroes simply were not on sale. Then baked and self-hardening plastics for modeling were used.
First you need to make a wire frame, so the finished figure will turn out to be more durable, and it will be much easier to keep all the proportions. The wire frame can be attached to the stand, which will make the miniature statue more stable, and it can be easily fixed in any position without fear of smearing small parts with your fingers.

Gradually, layer by layer, the volume of plastic increases on the frame. Each layer must be baked or dried well, depending on which plastic is used - self-hardening or baked.

The main advantage of 3D printing is high detail and repeatability. If you need to make a small batch of miniatures, it will be much easier to print them than to cast, for example. Casting small items is a painstaking process that requires some skill and equipment. It is very difficult to achieve good pourability of small products the first time.

And for the manufacture of piece products, such as a diorama element, a 3D printer can replace many materials and tools for modeling. In addition, by using and combining different materials, it is possible to create models that are difficult or almost impossible to create manually.
