The Chinese company Tiertime has announced the UP600 desktop FDM system, the largest in the UP line with a build area of ​​500x400x600 mm and for the first time with an active thermal chamber.

The new 3D printer has a usable volume of 120 liters, making it the largest in the Tiertime range. For comparison, the previous model, UP300, has a construction area of ​​205x255x225 mm.

“One of the most frequently asked questions is, can we do more? If users are missing the UP300, then they need a large format 3D printer. The design of the UP600 uses a number of innovations for the UP series, driven by technical requirements. The head moves on the largest rails we've ever used, and positioning is done via industrial grade belts. The mechanical requirements for accurate positioning of the head at high speeds and long distances are very different from standard machines,” says Joseph Guo, director of international sales and marketing at Tiertime.

In addition to more powerful kinematics, the new system has an active thermal chamber for the first time in the history of 3D printers from Tiertime. Enclosed chambers have been standard since the launch of the UP Box and UP Mini systems, but in order to most effectively combat the unwanted effects of heat shrinkage, especially at this working volume, forced background temperature control is still desirable. At the same time, the designers added a dryer compartment so that the filament does not pick up moisture during operation.

New model designed for UP Studio 3 software, although compatible with UP Studio 2.x series slicers. The new version of the program has been redesigned almost from scratch and offers advanced functionality, such as the ability to horizontally and vertically segment 3D models to set different layer thicknesses in individual areas. This, in turn, should improve overall performance. The program also allows you to set the order of 3D printing of different products remotely, from the terminals of authorized users.

The UP600 is controlled by a Linux on-board module with a 7" TFT display, 16 GB memory and online updates. The air filtration system includes HEPA and carbon filters. Third-party filaments with a diameter of 1.75 mm can be used.

This 3D printer can only be called a desktop printer: with a weight of 120 kg, you will need a strong stand, or installation on the floor. In this case, convenient rollers are provided. The system is built on a solid all-metal frame, but driving the 3D printer around the office is not recommended, especially during 3D printing and in front of superiors.
