Custom 3D Print Magnetic Game Board for Settlers of Catan

This is a custom 3d, magnetic game board designed to replace the cardboard game tiles of Settlers of Catan. It gained popularity due to a reddit post (https://redd.it/6gsq5k), so now by popular demand, the unpainted tiles are here for purchase! The pieces are all custom designed and then 3d printed. Each piece can have 12 magnets on it which allow it to snap together so those pesky bumps of the board no longer ruin a game and the board can be picked up and moved around.

All tiles are UNPAINTED. This gives you the opportunity to be creative! The painted board pictures are examples of what you can do. You can follow my painting design or come up with your own. I will include some instruction to help you get started in adding magnets and tips for painting. (P.S. US Domestic Shipping is free!)

There are two options, one WITH magnets and one WITHOUT. The only difference is the version with magnets has 290+ magnets that you can can glue into the tiles to allow the board to snap together for a strongly connected board. All pieces will have magnet holes on the sides in case you decide to add magnets later.

Every board includes 19 terrain tiles and 12 border ocean tiles which are:
Four (4) Fields (Grain Resource) Hexes.
Four (4) Forest (Lumber Resource) Hexes.
Four (4) Pasture (Wool Resource) Hexes.
Three (3) Mountains (Ore Resource) Hexes.
Three (3) Hills (Brick Resource) Hexes.
One (1) Desert (No Resource) Hex. --This tile is stylized as a pun: the "Dessert" tile, a cherry pie-- There is also a normal desert available upon request.

The pictures of the unpainted tiles in white and gray plastic are examples of what you can expect to receive. Due to how 3d printing works, there will be very small layers on each tile, but when the tiles are painted the ridges should not be noticeable . All pieces will have magnet holes on the sides in case you decide to add magnets later. You will need to provide your own glue and your own paint and detail items such as model foliage available at craft stores.

Looking for the STL files to print your own or the 5-6 player expansion? Check out the other listings in my shop! If you have any special requests, I am happy to work with you to create unique tiles just for you.

Feel free to message me with any questions. If you are buying internationally (non-US), please send me a message before purchase so that we can ensure shipping goes smoothly.

Note that this will not come with the paint or any other supplies. Only the 3d printed tiles and magnets (IF you choose that option) are included. The pieces pictured are painted and with extra details added. Each piece is made with plastic. Every piece is individually printed and may differ in color and texture.

Disclaimer: I am not at all associated with the Catan Studio. This is a fan-made board and still requires the purchase of the Settlers of Catan game for the tokens and other playing pieces.

Creative Zelda projects on Reddit include a Catan board and bartop arcade cabinet

Latest Articles

The Zelda subreddit is a central hub for all things The Legend of Zelda on Reddit. From art projects to timeline theories and beyond, the more than 460,000-subscriber userbase is constantly posting interesting things to share from our favorite franchise.

A couple of creative projects were spotted this week: a Breath of the Wild-themed Settlers of Catan game board, and a custom-made bartop arcade machine that plays various Zelda titles.

Settling in the wild

While no official video game adaptations of the popular Settlers of Catan board game currently exist, fan-made variations have surfaced. Reddit user redjaypeg recently created a version based on Breath of the Wild that overlays the overworld map with specific regions providing different resources.

Like the original game, redjaypeg’s version features five resources to collect: Elixers, Weapons, Ore, Wood and Fish, all of which are spread out across the land. Zora’s Domain, Lake Hylia and Lanayru Wetlands provide fish, while Death Mountain, Dueling Peaks and Gerudo Town yield ore. Wood can be gathered in the forest regions of the Great Plateau, Faron Woods and the Korok Forest, and of course a weapon cache sits at Hyrule Castle. The simple but sensible layout is what you’d expect from the typical Catan setup.

Reddit user TheHynusofTime also provided a link in the thread to a fabricated rule set, aptly called “The Settlers of Hyrule.” It’s independent from the Breath of the Wild board, but it might be fun to try combining the two if you’re itching for something Zelda outside of the video games.

Bringing Zelda to the bar

From home consoles to handhelds, The Legend of Zelda games can be played just about anywhere. Reddit user MunkiBoy77 decided to take them to the next level by creating a custom bartop arcade cabinet.

The laminated side walls feature Young Link artwork from Majora’s Mask, while the front panels are adorned with a pixelated Minish Cap Link. Green lighting accentuates the art and ties it all together. According to the post, the unit “runs every Zelda game from the very first up to the Wii versions,” making this a great all-in-one console.
