Fast
Rapid prototyping is fast by definition, having 3D print capability in-house will make you more productive provided the operation of the printer is not a task in itself.Rapid prototyping or production is more than just print speed.
To compare 3D printers in terms of speed we need to look at setup, operation, print speed; linked to print quality, success rate and, of course, cost because two low cost printers can outperform a single more expensive one.
Robox design, from weight of the motion parts to the streamlined 3 click print setup, is focused on quickly achieving each print job at high quality. The design of key parts and the underlying systems show very clear gains in completing jobs faster than any other 3D print system.
The printer comparison link below takes you to a very detailed and sortable list of the best dual extrusion printers on offer.
Accurate
Tolerance is part of any mechanical design and has an impact on usability of the produced component. 3D printers can produce very accurate motion and positioning of materials. But reaching an acceptable tolerance does not end there
Materials expand and contract with thermal changes, a controlled build chamber is the best way to reduce the effect on part construction, highly repeatable results allow for design adaptation in a loop which ensures the best possible outcome.
In Robox where there is potential for inaccuracy there are novel devices and tools built-in to compensate for this and tune systems for repeatable accuracy. As mechanical engineers CEL-UK have ensured that every step in design, construction and usage of Robox ensures the best possible accuracy while retaining the core need for a machine which is easy to procure, maintain and operate.
Reliable
Modular design means that the hardest working parts can be swapped out in seconds without tools.Designed for business
Smart monitoring appeared in Robox machines first and provide a software alerts and automated systems that prevent hardware damage.
Our motion frame design is the same as large format CNC because it is extremely rigid to ensure relationships between axes are maintained. Speed is a priority so a low weight of motion parts is critical to allow the best acceleration potential. Stationary and slow moving parts are precisely machined stainless steel. Electronics are designed specifically for our system right down to custom stepper motors, this ensures there is no load problems or incompatibility.
Backing this up is a best in class warranty on all parts including consumables and our excellent UK based customer service.

Efficient
Material usage, success rate, time to set up, time to print, effect on productivity, resource availability.Additive Manufacturing is more efficient in terms of material usage than traditional subtractive methods such as CNC machining.
AM also allows shapes and structures which are impossible using other methods. As a technology it is easy to access and low cost machines can achieve complex shapes accurately without a labour cost as the machinery runs through program without supervision.
Robox systems have won awards for ease of use and our dual extrusion systems save between 10 and 30% material with every job.
Cost Effective
3D printers have dropped in price significantly since a patent expired in 2009. Many remain significantly over priced for the value offered.Finding the right balance between expensive and cheap is about trust
At the bottom end there are hundreds of unsupported copies of copies of the basic frame and extrusion systems, many of these can produce nice looking models but will not be capable of printing in materials with desirable mechanical or chemical properties. Mid-high cost printers are a big jump from the bottom end in terms of pre-configured setup, support and per-print success. The high cost printers are being challenged by this mid range.
RoboxDual will outperform any printer even 10 times the price. For a larger printer with the same capabilities RoboxPRO is feature rich and has a very large build capacity.
Innovative
We made 3D printing
faster, more reliable and easier.
Needle Valve material control
Synchronised with the motion frame, material control is key in producing accurate parts during printing. With needle valves, viscous materials will not leak out to create stringing and blobs, dual extrusion printing will not waste material and time doing purges, wipe towers or heating/cooling operations.
Needle valves are unique to Robox and allow far faster and more efficient printing of multiple materials on the same layer. This system is currently used in all our multi-nozzle heads.
Nozzle Lift
Robox nozzles which are not in use lift out of the way, they don’t drag across the print or get stored away to dribble in the corner. Since we developed this method others have come up with varied solutions but none is as fast and efficient as the Robox system.
Material Recognition
This is a big one which Robox pioneered back in 2013 using our SmartReel system. Incorrect material settings for temperatures and feed rates has been the cause of many failed prints and even damage to printers. Robox automated this system and in the process have made 3D printing accessible to anyone. Swapping materials is easy on Robox and our SmartReel system has been imitated by the biggest competitors.

It was one of the best customer support experiences that I’ve ever had. (Unfortunately) that isn’t something you can expect in these days. So thank you very much and keep up the good work.
M.J. Wallner, Germany
I work in the last 6 years with a Dimension Elite 3D Printer for € 42.000,00 investment. This printer can’t beat the quality of your Robox printer in printing quality and tolerances.
Jason King, UK
Thank you for fast fix and turn around, very impressed with service without a doubt 5 star.
John Revill, Australia
I must say your service is excellent. The Robox is a great printer but combined with your service is awesome.
Steven Fagg, UK
I am very impressed with this 3D printer and its simplicity to use. This is my first 3D printer and have found it incredibly easy to use and set up. Thanks for that!
Matthew Hajicek, US
I had fun showing my prints to the Stratasys rep. He was like “You made that on a $1500 printer?!” His demo prints from a $35000 printer looked crude by comparison.

RoboxPRO
Get back to the real work.
Designed for designers
Robox hardware, it’s features, functions, consumables and accessories as well as the software which controls everything has all been designed to improve workflow simply by working without fuss.
By making a machine which works as expected, without the need for setup, tweaking and special skills to run we have made a tool which does what a tool should, Robox makes the process easier.
That process could be prototyping a new product, building a scale model, testing a theory or a simple jig to make holes in the right place or stop a project rolling off the desk.
3D Hubs allows thousands of printer users from all over the world to offer reviews of printers they use every day. We won Best of Plug and Play awards 2 years running. Right on target.
QuickFill™DualMaterial™SingleX™Software is vital in a 3D print setup. We made our own user interface and firmware so we could make the process of setting up and starting a print as easy as possible. The ease of use of AutoMaker has won us some really nice feedback from 3D printer reviewers.
On the surface you see a simple drag and drop model loading interface, choice of 3 carefully tuned default print profiles and a button which says “Make!” All you need is a model and a SmartReel.
Under the surface is a profile library which allows control over critical settings and features along with a filament library which can be copied and edited. Print and filament profiles can be shared within the Robox Community and the open material system means there are a lot of filament profiles around.
AutoMaker runs in Java which is compatible with a wide range of operating systems. We have designed and tested it for use on recent Windows, Apple and Linux systems. Cura is used as a slicing engine but you never need to see it, everything is controlled within AutoMaker.
Software is actively maintained and updates come often, the latest can be downloaded here. If connected to the web the software checks for updates on startup. You can try AutoMaker with limited functionality without a Robox attached.

The Robox support team use a ticketing system to log service history and communicate about hardware, software and usage issues for Robox. We have gathered a lot of articles, explanations and guides describing the workings of Robox and changes over its lifetime in this support system. Keeping it there allows us to easily link that content to a users ticket and is a great resource. You can see the surface of this via this link but if you log into the support system you can view a lot more. www.cel-robox.com/support/. Please note that the login is not shared with this site, you will need an account for the support website. You can use the support site to register your warranty as well.
Just clip the reel on, setup is automatic.
Robox SmartReel system simplifies the print process by automatically setting Robox up for the reel clipped to the side of Robox. A chip on the reel is programmed with print speeds, diameter, flow rates and temperatures for nozzle, bed and build chamber at each stage of printing. This means a user with no printing experience can jump straight in and benefit from the huge range of materials Robox can print with. For an experienced user this is a great time saver and allows very easy changing of materials. RoboxDual has 2 reel readers and the ability to combine either two colours in the same layer of a print or one model material with a dedicated support material which can be easily removed after printing.
Third party materials are able to be used with Robox.
There is no manufacturer lock in or hacking required to use practically any 1.75mm filament available. We encourage experimentation by knowledgeable and experienced users and offer advice and tested print profiles via the Robox Community. By enabling the Advanced Mode you can edit the SmartReel profiles and create your own, you can save these to reels or simply feed material in directly from its original reel, just tell AutoMaker what it is via a custom print profile. The warranty terms require that you take responsibility for damage from third party filament and “filled” filaments which will abrade the surfaces are not recommended unless using the SingleX head.
Not just compatible - Robox is designed to use engineering materials
Many printers claim compatibility with engineering materials. Although an open frame printer can create shapes with a common material such as ABS, in reality it needs a box over it. The ambient environment needs to be controlled or the thermal shrinkage will destroy the accuracy of the model and in many cases the print will fail before it completes, wasting time and filament.
To print in a wide range of materials the printer needs to be able to generate, monitor and maintain suitable temperatures for nozzles, bed and ambient conditions in the build area. Some printers will offer awkward (ridiculous) or expensive covers for their printer, Robox does it all as standard, automatically. Not only that, we do it far faster than any other printer, build plates heat up to higher temperatures in 3-5 mins, not 15-30 mins, many can’t even achieve the required temperatures to ensure adhesion throughout the build process.
Engineering materials such as Nylon, ABS and Polycarbonate are all excellent, strong materials for creating strong, working models. All of these and more are not just compatible with Robox but print very well.
Dual material compatibility chart.
Dual material printing allows a 3D printer to create far more complex parts with greater accuracy thanks to support structures which are dissolvable or have desirable lamination characteristics. Composites can be created with patterns to allow combinations flex or rigidity not available in single material prints, seals, buffers, feet and many other functions can be added to a print and automatically created.
But, not all materials can work together. Our compatibility matrix will guide you in temperature compatibility and lamination strength. Materials – >

TOP software for 3D printing: create, edit and print”
08.09.2016
We continue the series of articles about 3D printers, and today we will talk about software. As we wrote earlier, there are really a lot of different programs for creating and preparing models. So many that undertaking to choose something to your taste, you can be lost to the world for a couple of days, or even weeks. And who wants to spend so much time on such a seemingly simple task? That's why we've done our research and compiled a list of the best 3D printing software and services. nine0005
And we will start with resources for the laziest - services where you can find ready-made models. Just download, scale, print and use the printed to your heart's content. There are dozens of such sites, we will give the three most popular of them.
sketchfab.com
Let's start with sketchfab.com. This is a resource that brings together 3D content creators working in a wide variety of fields - from models for interactive illustrations to the most realistic interiors for VR projects. Among this variety, there are models for printing on a 3D printer. Since this resource is more of a 3D artist than anything else, the local models are mainly represented by sculptures and architecture. There are practically no solutions that are useful in everyday life, but you are welcome to decorate your home with something like that. nine0005
grabcad.com
The next resource is diametrically opposed to sketchfab, because grabcad.com is the realm of engineers. Hundreds of thousands of people who understand technology firsthand post the results of their work here: models of objects, tools, device diagrams and blanks for creating various equipment. So if you are not alien to the spirit of making and you dream of creating some useful device, then familiarity with the local assortment will allow you to comprehend the basics and wisdom of working with a 3D printer. At the same time, your home will be flooded with useful and simply amazingly beautiful devices in terms of mechanics. nine0005
thingiverse.com
If you want everything at once, then you will love the most extensive and comprehensive catalog of 3D printable models - thingiverse. com. Here you can find both sculptures and appliances, as well as heaps of accessories for mobile devices, three-dimensional puzzles and ordinary practical trifles, from coat hooks to parts for household appliances. Another nice point of this resource is the presence of the Customizer utility, which allows you to adapt simple models to your requirements. Set the required dimensions for a simple box, prescribe your own melody for a music box, make a personalized bracelet - all this can be done right on the site, without using additional software. nine0005
After downloading the model of interest, you need to prepare it for the printer. Of course, each device comes with its own program that allows you to create a gcode instruction file for the printer from a traditional 3D model. But this software does not always have a clear interface, and it does not always support the printing techniques you need. So the next trio is software for slicing models.
Cura
This program was developed to work with the Ultimaker printer series, and it also supports many derivatives of Rep-Rap, an open architecture printer. What catches this utility is the convenience of work for both a beginner and a more experienced user. To do this, she has a Simple / Advanced switch hiding or showing detailed settings for the printing process. Otherwise, the functionality of the program is quite common - it will help you place the model or models in the print field, select the filling density of the internal volumes, and create a gcode file for printing. nine0005
https://ultimaker.com/en/products/cura-software
Repetier
This program is designed for more experienced users. There is no saving “simple” mode here, and in order to set up printing, you will have to delve into the printer configuration and the printing process itself. This, in addition to the headache, will give you an idea of what your printer can do, and will also help you print quality that you couldn’t do before.
Since this application was created for Rep-Rap printers (which can be of completely different configurations), it can work with just monstrous devices. It can control up to 16 printheads at the same time with different settings and materials. Do not confuse him and different sizes and shapes of the desktop. In addition, it works in a client-server architecture, which allows you to connect several different printers to the server and manage them not only at home, but also from anywhere in the world from a mobile device or via the web. nine0005
https://www.repetier.com/
Slic3r
This is a slicer with even more settings. Even to run it, you need to know the characteristics of your printer. Since at the first start, the setup wizard is launched, requiring you to set the basic parameters of your device. And in the interface itself, the “simple” settings correspond to the “complex” ones from Cura. And on the "experts" you can hang out for several hours, choosing the ideal parameters to obtain ideal surfaces. In general, do not grab onto this program right away. It is better to work a little with simpler options first. But then, knowing the magic of Slic3r settings will allow you to achieve impressive results when printing. nine0005
http://slic3r.org/
Sometimes, when you print a downloaded and cut model, you are surprised to find some holes in it that were not visible on the computer screen, or the absence of some parts of the model, which, on the contrary, were present in the computer version. Faced with this problem, you should not blame the printer or software for everything. In fact, you came across a not very high-quality 3D model, which the author did not test in real printing. There is a solution to this problem - programs that check files for typical errors and correct them (and in extremely rare cases, finally "kill" them) nine0005
makeprintable.com
The easiest way to fix a 3D model is to create an account at makeprintable.com and run it through a local web tool. The service works quite quickly and efficiently, but is not able to handle large files, it can fail if you load a large number of models on one substrate. Otherwise, this is an ideal solution for correcting minor flaws in models.
Netfabb Basic
nine0211
This is a slightly stripped-down version of a commercial model fixing application. And although some very powerful tools for working with models were left for the “pro” version, even in the basic version, the program is able to fix almost everything. At least the auto-correct feature continues to work wonders. But the main thing is not to get too carried away, because when “patching” some problems, the model may lose detail and, as a result, will not look quite as expected.
https://www.netfabb.com/products/netfabb-basic
MeshLab
This is a utility for experts and those who are not intimidated by manually investigating model problems. Of course, there are auxiliary tools, but it will not be very easy to deal with them without the appropriate level of knowledge. At the same time, the results of professional intervention in the file structure will be much better than with automatic correction by other utilities. And some shortcomings can be cured only here. nine0005
http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/
If you want to not only use the results of someone else's work, but also create something yourself (or you just can't find what you need among free models), your choice is tools for creating 3D models. Here it is necessary to understand at least the basic concepts of printing. And the reward for studying them will be knowledge and skills that will allow you to independently create everything you need from household utensils, and may also come in handy in the future when looking for a job. nine0005
tinkercad.com
Another web tool for 3D printer owners. On tinkercad.com you will be taught how by combining and cutting out the simplest shapes, you can create something useful and useful. Even a preschooler can figure out the interface of the service, and the resulting models are quite usable and practical. Of course, it is very problematic to implement complex devices here and it is almost impossible to create artistic sculptures, but it is ideal for mastering basic functions. nine0005
SketchUp
Having mastered the online editor, you can move on to more complex models, and here you can not do without a full-fledged modeling program. SketchUp, while maintaining the simplicity of working with shapes, allows you to create much more complex models. This is a universal tool, working with which will not cause you any difficulties, and at the same time, when working with it, you do not feel like a child making figures out of cubes. In practice, SketchUp captivates with a good implementation of working with the dimensions of parts, which allows you to make precise fitting of complex devices. But still it is a tool more for technicians. If your calling is to create sculptures, then you should pay attention to Sculptris (http://pixologic.com/sculptris/), in which the creation of models is more like modeling from plasticine. nine0005
http://www.sketchup.com/
Blender
If you have few opportunities in these tools, then your choice is professional software.
