ToyBox 3D Printer True Print Sizes and Limit Switch Issues
So I figured out the problem is that my printable area is so small that the printer would sometimes fully push and trigger the endpoint limit switches! This apparently causes it to stop a little early, shifting the next layer as it prints.
Printer specifications say it has a print volume of 9 x 8 x 10 cm. However, the print design area and viewer at https://www. make.toys/ shows the design volume as follows
The square grid shown on the baseplate has 1 cm per square, except as you can see the leftmost and rightmost columns are < 1 square. Therefore, looking at this image, the usable area of the table appears to be approximately 7.25 cm x 8 cm (mesh size shown in the images) and NOT 8 cm x 9 cm. ring" on the "Assemble" tab in the image below, the printer performs a "clear" maneuver in the form of a spiral, circle, or ring around the print object just before printing starts. This erases any dangling stray print material before printing begins. So, the problem is that my the role is too big. 2)$ = 92)$ = 10.8 cm long is , but that really pushes the limits of what this printer can do. In the end, all I had to do was reduce the part a little to 10 cm or less!
UPDATE: I have also convincingly proven this by designing at www.TinkerCad.com and printing on a toy box that the maximum print height allowed is exactly 9 cm and it will indeed print correctly up to that height.
I would still like a flying propeller
However, even though the "key" of the model in my question is printed pretty well in the end the helicopter blade (propeller) is printed horribly because the design is messed up and has a bunch of missing materials and air gaps around the hub, making the prop completely unusable!
Instead, I switched to this thing below, scaled it down to 0.6x to fit my printer, set my printer settings to medium to fine resolution, and got pretty good results! I still need to further tweak and edit the design at https://www.
