Seamless User Experience
The MoonRay S combines the high resolution capabilities of Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing with the latest Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology. This means the MoonRay is both technically capable of producing highly detailed and accurate prints but also has flawless user experience. The MatterHackers test team was very impressed with the easy setup and also the everyday ease of use with this printer. This is one of the lowest cost DLP resin printers available, which makes the Sprintray MoonRay S the best choice in desktop DLP 3D printers for businesses, educators, and individuals alike.
Dependable, high resolution projector
At the core of MoonRay S is a custom-built UV DLP projector, RayOne. Created so every MoonRay S would be equipped with a well-calibrated, long-lasting projector. RayOne hits the correct light wavelength consistently across the build platform for improved resin-curing control and dimensional stability. This method of curing also enables the MoonRay S to achieve a 1 inch per hour printing speed at 100 micron z-resolution. Parts printed with MoonRay S and RayOne are exceptionally detailed and precise, with a dimensional accuracy of +/- 50 microns.
Create every detail
MoonRay S’ exceptional accuracy is the result of the RayOne UV LED projector and the high-performance MoonRay materials. RayOne was developed in order to eliminate the distortion issues of conventional DLP and laser SLA 3D printing. It's uniform light intensity across the build platform ensures that all of your printed parts, regardless of size and shape, are accurate. MoonRay resins have been formulated for use with RayOne to print accurate parts with unlimited details.
Conventional DLP There will often be distortion when using commercial projectors due to the manufacturing and assembly quality of the lenses. | Laser SLA The laser reflecting off of the printer’s mirrors can compromise resolution and accuracy in the outer parts of the build platform. |
MoonRay S Projector
The high quality lenses in RayOne ensure parts printed
by MoonRay S will be dimensionally accurate.
Print more models in less time
Unlike laser SLAs that are drastically slower when printing large or complex parts, MoonRay S’ print speed is consistently fast, and only dependent on the height of your model. Printing multiple models takes the same amount of time as printing one model, making MoonRay S the most time-efficient 3D-printing option and up to ten times faster than laser SLA 3D printing.
Printing one model or ten takes the same machine time

$2,499 MoonRay DLP Printer Offered on Kickstarter
News
In recent months, popular FDM printers have had more and more competitors from the stereolithographic photopolymer camp. It's no secret that the widespread use of SLA printers has traditionally been limited by the high cost of such devices. The advent of stereolithography printing technology with LED projectors has eliminated costly laser assemblies and led to a growing number of affordable DLP printers. One recent example is SprintRay's MoonRay, which is currently fundraising and taking pre-orders. Having collected more than half of the declared amount in a few hours after the start of the campaign, this attractive device is destined for success.
MoonRay is a stereo lithography printer based on the increasingly popular digital LED projectors. Such installations outperform earlier versions with laser emitters in a number of parameters: accuracy, reliability, resolution, ease of operation and, most importantly, cost. The customized projector installed on the MoonRay is rated for 50,000 work cycles. The device allows you to create models up to 127x81x229mm in size. The horizontal resolution is 100 microns and the minimum layer thickness is 20 microns.
The device is positioned as a professional-grade all-in-one printer that meets the needs of designers, doctors and jewelers and is able to create objects that require only minimal post-processing. “Digital LED projection technology is becoming more and more widespread, and we decided to bring it to our customers in the form of an affordable desktop 3D printer,” says Jasper Jing Zhang, founder and CEO of SprintRay. “We have put a lot of effort into combining quality and affordability in one design. We believe that users of desktop 3D printers should be able to enjoy the best technology on the market,” adds Amir Mansouri, co-founder and chief engineer of the company.
The developers have not forgotten about the exterior design, making MoonRay an aesthetic addition to the interior. Along with visual appeal, the device is also quiet in operation, and the workmanship should provide many years of service. “There are virtually no wear parts in the device, and the design as a whole has been simplified as much as possible to increase reliability,” explains chief designer Hussein Bassir. “Just unpack your device and start printing. The automatic support building feature makes printing an easy task.”
Along with a decent sized working camera and high resolution, the MoonRay has a very competitive price tag. Early customers can pre-order for $2,499, while the retail price is in the order of $3,500.
