Artec 3D Releases Artec Leo 2022 3D Scanner

“Artec Leo was the industry's first AI-powered 3D scanner, making it truly innovative. Now we have updated it to ensure that anyone using the Artec Leo 2022 can be sure that they will get excellent professional results with guaranteed accuracy and even greater data clarity. We have improved the scanner so that a user of any skill level can get the desired results quickly, easily and in their own language,” says Artec 3D President and CEO Artem Yukhin.

Improved algorithms and data processing

Artec Leo 2022 uses the NVIDIA Jetson TX2 processor, which doubles the processing power of its predecessor, according to the company's press office. Power consumption is reduced to less than 7.5 watts. It also features improved multi-core processing: NVIDIA Denver 2 adds two cores and even more performance to what is now called the heterogeneous multiprocessor architecture, pushing 2 GHz to each of the six cores. Leo 2022 also has an updated interface and screen, which has become even more convenient. Graphics performance, power efficiency, deep learning libraries, and memory bandwidth are improved, and with the TX2 processor, Leo's Smart Profile is doubled.

“The TX2 processor enables more AI algorithms and data processing on the fly. Thanks to this technology, users will be able to get even faster and more accurate results, as well as enjoy an even more intuitive automated scanning process,” explains Artec 3D Chief Engineer Gleb Gusev.

Improved accuracy

The accuracy of the Leo 2022 is guaranteed by a new calibration certificate. Users will be able to consistently obtain high-quality, professional metrological results. To verify accuracy, each 3D scanner is calibrated with high-precision reference objects at various positions within the scanner's working area, using different parts of the device's sensor, as well as shooting from different distances.

A calibration kit has also been developed for the Leo 2022. Operators can independently check the accuracy of the scanner and adjust the settings. Because operating conditions can vary greatly, this set will allow users to periodically check and set up the device to work in their familiar environment. The Leo Calibration Kit can be pre-ordered now and will go on sale in April this year.

The new automatic temperature control function allows you to regulate the performance of the 3D scanner and maintain the optimal operating temperature of the components. This ensures that the operation of the metrological device is not affected by internal or external temperature changes that could otherwise affect the quality of the readout.

Enhanced Color

Leo 2022 is enhanced with algorithms that automatically adjust the flash level during shooting. This results in realistic, evenly lit, color 3D models without the need to manually adjust settings. A new optimization algorithm cuts the size of textures in half, speeding up the processing and loading of data to create color 3D models.

Multilingual interface

The 3D scanner interface is now available in six languages ​​including English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. Something is still missing.
