3D printing is one of the most promising areas of technological development in the 21st century. Having gone a long way from bulky and heavy boxes to compact desktop devices, 3D printers have ceased to be something inaccessible to a wide range of users. The era of mass additive manufacturing has already arrived, and every home can now house a real desktop factory.
You can buy a 3D printer capable of printing small models and prototyping of medium complexity today at the price of an entry-level laptop. The price of PLA or ABS plastic, which acts as a consumable, also no longer seems exorbitant. In a word, if you have long dreamed of getting to know the world of 3D printing and joining the ranks of makers, the right moment has come!
To save you time and make it easier to select equipment, we have collected in one section all desktop 3D printers optimized for home and office use. These are the real "workhorses" with the perfect balance of functionality, quality and price. Even a beginner can understand the settings, mount and calibrate a 3D printer, and as he gains experience, he will be able to print more and more complex three-dimensional models.
Educational program for the return and exchange of 3D printers
There have already been a lot of posts about how the printer was bought, but it does not print. They could not change it or hand it over in the store. We waited 2-3 months for the printer to be repaired. We paid for the delivery of the printer to the manufacturer for repair. There were many questions and articles, after which the printer began to be repaired and the shipment was faster. Publicity helps, but not as good as knowing and using the Consumer Protection Act.
In order to return or exchange a purchased 3D printer, you need to remember that it belongs to a special list of devices, like almost all computer equipment, which are more difficult to change and repair than a low-quality socket. This list is called the list of technically complex goods, which means that there may be problems with the return or exchange.
To check whether a 3D printer purchased in a Russian store belongs to a technically complex device, open the Government Decree and read paragraph 11:
machines and devices; household radio-electronic equipment; household computing and duplicating equipment; photographic and film equipment; telephone sets and facsimile equipment; electric musical instruments; electronic toys, household gas equipment and devices; wrist and pocket watches, mechanical, electronic-mechanical and electronic, with two or more functions)
The 3D printer also belongs to this category, because is a CNC machine, and for household purposes (personal, desktop).
Here is how the exchange and return of such goods takes place:
1) If there is a guarantee and there are no complaints about the quality of the goods, it cannot be returned.
2) If there are any defects - 15 days from the date of purchase are given for exchange and return.
3) After 15 days, you can exchange or return the goods in the following cases:
a) Significant defect;
b) Long repair;
c) Regular breakdowns that interfere with normal use.
4) If there is no reason to exchange or return, then the defects must still be eliminated free of charge under warranty.
It should also be remembered that the rules for exchange and return are established not by the store or the manufacturer, but by law. The store can't just say 'We won't change your printer, we can only repair it' or 'Wait two months for the part to arrive, no refund'. If the actions of the store are illegal, then the store can prepare money for a fine, trial and compensation.
Return and exchange within 15 days.
If the printer has scratches on the display, it does not print from a flash drive or computer, or plastic flows out from under the fuser - these are shortcomings.
And with any such defects, you can return it to the store and claim back your hard-earned money. An important difference between technically complex goods and ordinary ones is that after 15 days, technically complex goods can only be repaired if they break down, and ordinary ones can be exchanged for a similar product during the entire warranty period.
Moreover, if you brought goods of inadequate quality to the store, the store is obliged to replace it with exactly the same within 7 days. And if it takes more than 7 days to find a replacement, then the buyer is provided with a similar product for the replacement period.
Return and exchange after 15 days.
If the printer's belt breaks, the nozzles stop switching correctly, the flash drive falls off during printing or the print stops, and this all happens after a month, for example. You can't just change it for a new one. You can repair under warranty, but you can demand your money back only under any of the conditions:
a) The disadvantage is significant. For example, the board burned out for the second time, the heater contact comes off, or the hotend does not hold the temperature, that is, it is impossible to print. If the door is loose, the belt is loose, the spring in the table has burst - the disadvantage is insignificant and it will be eliminated under warranty.
b) The seller delayed the repair. Technically complex goods can be repaired for a maximum of 45 days. If the board or hotend cannot be changed for two months, this is the problem of the store. And a reason to get a new printer.
c) Repeated shortcomings and lengthy repairs. In the event that various faults appear frequently and due to repair, the product cannot be used for more than 30 days in any one year while the warranty is valid. For example, at first they changed the burned-out board, then the nozzles stopped switching, then the thermistor stopped working, and so on. As a result, the printer stood 35 days a year due to breakdowns. And you have the right to a new one. And if during the year of the warranty it worked for you, and 3 days before the end of the warranty, the printer seriously broke down, then you will be given all the money or they will change the goods for a new one.
Return for other reasons.
If the printer sold to you in a Russian store does not have a manual in Russian, this is a reason for a return. A technically complex device must have an instruction in Russian. Or the Russian-language instructions say that the printer supports the STL file type, then this is a reason to return. In this case, the reason for the return is false information. The seller can poke your nose into Article 18 of the Consumer Protection Act. And he will be right, because it says that the return of technically complex goods is prohibited. But in response, you can poke at him with article 12 of the same law. You can threaten to the heap with a complaint to Rospotrebnadzor.
Printer delivery for repair.
Some not-so-respectable shops/manufacturers require you to pay for shipping the printer for repair under the buyer's warranty. And the buyer, who is not particularly aware of his rights, pays for it. In fact, there is article 18 of the law on consumer protection, where paragraph 7 reads:
(manufacturer, authorized organization or authorized individual entrepreneur, importer). In case of failure to fulfill this obligation, as well as in the absence of the seller (manufacturer, authorized organization or authorized individual entrepreneur, importer) at the location of the consumer, delivery and (or) return of these goods may be carried out by the consumer. In this case, the seller (manufacturer, authorized organization or authorized individual entrepreneur, importer) is obliged to reimburse the consumer for the costs associated with the delivery and (or) return of these goods.
It turns out that paying for the delivery of a broken printer to the manufacturer, say, from St.
