The Anycubic Photon Mono is the latest lineup from Anycubic - it truly is a holistic experience, as the printing process has been improved and streamlined from the all-new 2K monochrome LCD and LED matrix to some helpful maintenance features. And to really spruce up the workflow, the Wash and Cure Station dramatically simplifies the post-processing routine.
Anycubic Photon Mono 3D Printer's 2K LCD and LED MatrixThe Anycubic Photon Mono uses MSLA technology (Masked Stereolithography Apparatus) to harden liquid resin into unique shapes, full layers at a time. This is done by using an LCD screen to display cross-sections of the finished 3D print in sequential order to let UV light pass through the LCD from the UV LEDs in the base, hardening the resin. The Mono improves on the functionality by moving away from a traditional RGB LCD to a 2K Monochrome LCD to allow more UV light through to cure each layer faster than ever.
Even further, the UV LEDs in the base have been improved to form a matrix of LEDs to fully expose the entire build area, preventing hot and cold spots where light intensity varies. By virtue of allowing more light to pass through the LCD, less energy is being absorbed by it, so its lifespan increases significantly while allowing 3D prints to finish much faster than before.
The Anycubic Photon Mono's LED Matrix parallel light source provide more efficiency and better heat dissipation.
Anycubic's UV-Blocking Top Cover Blocks 99.95% of UV Light and Enables Safety FeaturesThe UV-blocking top cover blocks out 99.95% of UV light, protecting both your eyes from the intense UV LED matrix and the uncured resin in the vat of the Photon Mono. Its bright yellow color also makes it really easy to see through the protective cover and see your 3D print progress without having to lift the cover every time you want to check up on it. For those concerned about someone interacting with the 3D print while the print job is still running, you can enable a safety feature to instantly pause the job when the UV cover is removed.
The Anycubic Photon Mono's cover blocks 99.5% of UV light and will pause your print when removed.
Quickly and Easily Replace Your Anycubic Photon Mono's FEP FilmAs part of regular maintenance for your Anycubic Photon Mono 3D printer, you will need to replace the thin FEP film in the vat when it wears down or gets punctured, to make this process simple and easy, you no longer need to sandwich alternating metal plates and dozens of screws, instead you just unscrew the old bracket and pop in a new to get back up and running with perfect film tension.
Quickly and Easily change your Anycubic Photon Mono's FEP vat so you can stay up and printing.

Over the course of its cycle the propeller will alternate directions to swirl isopropyl alcohol all around the 3D print. Once its been washed, dried off, and any remaining alcohol evaporated, all you have to do is remove the cleaning container, place the reflective sheet and turntable, and set the cure time to let the 3D print be bathed in UV light to fully harden. It’s a simple addition to the resin 3D printing workflow that keeps the entire manufacturing method in a compact footprint. Find the Wash & Cure Machine 2.0 here.

The packaging of the printer is very good. All parts are in place, nothing is loose. This package will reliably protect the printer from damage. nine0003
Equipment
All accessories in one photo. Here we have the printer itself, a resin bath, a printing platform, pieces of paper (instructions and a sheet for leveling the platform), a box with a power supply and other tools. Unfortunately, photopolymer resin was not included in the kit.
The print platform is made of aluminum and is sloped for better resin flow. Resin for these printers is quite expensive, so every drop counts. nine0003
The plastic pot for photopolymer has notches with volume indication. A beveled spout is provided for convenient pouring of the resin into the jar. FEP film (the film that is at the bottom of the bath) is replaceable, this is one of the consumables for photopolymer 3D printers. It must be handled very carefully so as not to scratch the film.
Tool box and more.
Includes: 5 paper filters, gloves, plastic and metal spatulas, a set of hexagons and service card, mask, flash drive and power supply. Only a plastic spatula can touch the FEP film. The metal one is designed to remove the printed product from the platform, although someone here uses a separate plastic spatula. nine0003
Appearance
The printer looks nice. The orange shield protects against resin odors and UV radiation.
Consider the mechanisms of the printer.
The carriage moves on a rail.
The same monochrome 2K display. On the sides - fixing the bath.
Safety cover sensor. When the cover is removed, printing stops and a nasty squeak begins. By the way, the sensor can be disabled in the settings. nine0003
Z axis end stop.
Resin bath installation example.
Volume markers. It is not worth pouring more than MAX, because during the printing process, the platform displaces the resin to its volume and the resin may leak onto the screen.
Disassembly
Only 4 screws need to be removed to access the board. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not add rubber feet at the corners, which would be very helpful. nine0003
Control display board.
Main board. It has a connector for connecting a fan, but there is no fan as such.
Here is the array of UV diodes with lenses.
And this, apparently, is a lowering for UV diodes, if I'm not mistaken.
I almost forgot about the printer menu. It is here, in my opinion, standard for all photopolymer printers from Anycubic. It is possible to move the Z axis, check the illumination, disable the sensor for the presence of a protective screen, squeak when pressed, and more. nine0003
Print examples
Level the platform before printing. This is done very easily following the instructions.
Then install the tray and pour the resin. A few warnings at once: you should not take a bath from below, it is better not to touch the film with your fingers at all; Shake well before pouring resin.
Printed with water-washable gray photopolymer resin from Eryone. (Very soon there will be a review on it). nine0003
First test model. Default exposure values: 45s for the first 6 layers and 2s for the rest, 50 micron layer.
I'm looking at the live model and trying to find the layers, but you can't see them, it's like cast. This is very cool. The model looks just cast.
This is the second test model shipped on a flash drive with the printer. In general, this is part of the whole test model, because 8 of these are printed at once and with different layer illumination: from 0.8s to 3.6s. In general, for my resin, the recommended exposure time is 2 seconds. Some of the needles were accidentally broken with a finger ((in fact, they were there.
I really wanted to print baby yoda (I think most watched the Mandalorian series). Illumination of the first layers 22s, subsequent - 2s. This model was printed with supports. Perhaps it was necessary to print it immediately on the platform, without lower supports, but so far I am only mastering this printing technology. The resin was washed off simply with tap water, apparently not everything was washed off and in the process of additional illumination the model turned partially white. Most likely it was necessary to use a soft brush for better washing. The model with a height of only 35mm turned out to be very detailed. nine0003
After painting:
If the contact of the model and the print platform is large, it is quite difficult to tear off the models.
You can change the burn time, print speed, and other settings while printing.
Baby Yoda Print Timelapse
Dopa
Since I also have FDM printers, the first thing I did was print the lid for the bath and the fixtures to drain the resin from the print bed. nine0003
This is what the mount looks like.
And this is the lid for the tub.

The printer is very good. To be honest, I did not expect such a print quality. A couple of minutes of setup and you're ready to go. The assembly of the printer is of high quality, everything is done at a high level. The only thing I would really like rubber feet. The 2K monochrome display provides significantly faster printing compared to conventional. nine0003
I would recommend it for purchase.
Compatible Resin for Anycubic Photon
SeriesOn September 2, 2020, Anycubic celebrated its 5th anniversary with new printers. Along with their offering in FDM printers, Anycubic has also launched a new line of LCD/MSLA printers. These printers are successors to the successful Anycubic Photon. With the release of these new printers, Anycubic is expanding its offering with faster, larger 3D printers, meeting an important need in today's resin printing market. The new printers are called: Anycubic Photon Mono SE, Anycubic Photon Mono and Anycubic Photon Mono X.
Original Image: All3DP.com , Anycubic Photon Mono vs Mono SE vs Mono X: Differences.
What are the differences between these Anycubic Photon resin 3D printers?
There are many differences between Anycubic 3D printer offerings. The Regular Photon is probably being sold out and being replaced by new machines. Compared to Photon, all Photon mono printers have a monochrome screen, making them two to four times faster. Obvious differences in build platform size can be noticed immediately. The big difference between the Mono and Mono SE will be the power of the LED and the Z-axis guide. A single Z-axis guide is used in many entry-level printers and can cause Z-axis fluctuation or inaccuracies over time. With the change to a dual Z-track, the Mono SE and Mono X increase quality. nine0003

How do I choose the best resin 3D printer for my application?
Selecting a printer for your application depends on your needs and budget. If your budget is low, the entry-level $99 Photon Zero might be your best bet. A slightly higher budget might make it possible to go for the Anycubic Mono. Looking at the specs and actually testing both printers, the best buy for your money would be the Mono SE if you need a small platform size or the Mono X if you want to print large parts. When buying a new LCD / MSLA printer, we always advise buying a printer with a monochromatic screen. Immediately after longer life and shorter exposure time, our engineering grade 3D printing resins will be much easier to process. For example, on a regular RGB Strong-X LCD screen, it will take approximately 25 seconds of exposure for 0.05 mm thick layers, while this time is reduced to 5 seconds on the Anycubic Photon Mono X.
What other printers are available in the entry level MSLA LCD 3D printer field?
In recent years, many entry-level 3D printers have entered the resin printing market. There are so many brands that it is impossible to list them all. The top three competitors of Anycubic are Phrozen3D, Elegoo and EPAX3D.
Phrozen3D entered the resin 3D printing market long before Anycubic and recently launched more affordable and competitive printers with its Sonic line of 3D printers. The Phrozen Sonic Mini & Mini4K is an entry-level printer with the same specs as the Photon Mono, while its Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K competes with the Photon Mono X.
Elegoo is more or less always a step behind Anycubic with earlier products like Mars (competing with the original Photon) and Mars Pro 2. Mars Pro 2 is comparable to the Photon Mono, with its 2K Monochrome LCD screen and one z-axis rail The Elegoo Saturn, competing with the Anycubic Photon Mono X, has just been released and is slightly cheaper.
EPAX3D already offered high quality MSLA printers at slightly higher prices than the Photon series. These printers have been made from high quality materials and are more durable. Not too long ago, EPAX3D also offers the cheaper E10 printer, competing with all the printers mentioned above. nine0003
How to work with Liqcreate resins on these Anycubic Photon resin 3D printers?
