Infinity3D: Transformable Conveyor 3D Printer

The highlight of conveyor 3D printers is that they allow either automated serial 3D printing, lining up one product after another and dropping them into a container, or printing parts of theoretically unlimited length - it all depends on the length of the supporting roller table and the presence of holes in the walls of the working room. Characteristic features of such systems are the presence of a conveyor belt that serves as the Z axis (confusing, but it is easier to adapt slicers this way), and an inclined frame, due to which the head prints at a certain angle to the horizontal, usually around 45 degrees.

The Inifinity3D team for some reason designed a conveyor 3D printer that can be “straightened”, that is, the frame can be installed vertically and get a “drygostol” version, but with a conveyor belt instead of a movable platform. As a result, the ability to print products of unlimited length is lost, but the height of the construction area increases - from 250x215x∞ to 250x220x323 mm, that is, the height grows from 215 to 323 mm (we remind you once again that in conveyor 3D printers, the Y and Z coordinates are reversed). Judge for yourself the value of such a design.

The 3D printer uses MGN12 X and Y linear guides, BMG extruder, 32-bit electronics and stepper motors with quiet TMC2209 drivers. The hot end heats up to a maximum of 280°C, the platform under the belt is up to 110°C, and the positioning speed reaches 150 mm/s.

Software includes Marlin firmware and Cura's own modification of the slicer. The system is equipped with a 3.5-inch color touch screen and accepts USB sticks and SD cards. The supply of consumables is monitored by a filament sensor, there is an automatic save and resume function in case of power outages.

Early orders are still available for HK$4,277 (approximately $550) excluding shipping. The start of deliveries is scheduled for February next year. An optional roller table can be added for $99. Additional information is available on the Kickstarter crowdfunding site at this link.
