In short, one American designer made an amazing thing: a Batman suit on a 3D printer. We will discuss all the details below.
You probably know about such a popular hobby as cosplay, which in recent years has gained fame in our country. In short, its essence lies in dressing up in costumes of famous characters, often with a complete copy of their appearance. Ardent fans of this type of activity are ready to go to great lengths for the sake of a good costume for their favorite hero, because often the clothes of the characters are a rather complex design, which is simply unrealistic to make on their own.
Actually, that's how it was until fans discovered the world of 3D technology with its unlimited possibilities. Now any designs can be easily made in a 3D modeling program, after which the necessary product will be made on a 3D printer. Of course, this is only half the work. Cosplay fans will have to go through a long process of sanding, painting and matching elements, but for a true fan, this is not a problem.
Once again, this was proven by an Irish special effects specialist named Julian Checkley, whose amazing work was included in the Guinness Book of Records. Julian made an incredible Batman costume on a 3D printer, which shocked not only cosplay fans, but the whole world. It is noteworthy that the product contains 23 functional devices, so the Batman costume on a 3D printer has not only a decorative function.
Batman costume on a 3D printer: the history of creation
Being an expert in his field, Checkley already had considerable experience in creating costumes of various plans, including with the help of 3D technologies. However, according to him, this was the first time that a designer has relied so much on 3D printing during the creation process. Indeed, more than a month of painstaking work went into making a Batman suit on a 3D printer, based on the armor from the computer game “Batman: Arkham Origins”. It would seem a very long time, but in fact, the creation of a costume using traditional methods would take twice as long.
Julian and his team were delighted to see how much 3D technology has made their task easier and faster. In addition, 3D printing has made it possible to produce elements with an extremely high degree of detail. Thus, a Batman costume on a 3D printer is not inferior to professional props.
Some parts of the costume were 3D printed, others were 3D printed. Due to this, the designer focused on the final processing of the costume details. As can be judged - not in vain. Undoubtedly, the appearance of Batman's armor is impressive. But what do you say when you learn about 23 devices that function exactly like the hero himself? Yes, Checkley has thought of everything carefully and created amazing gadgets, including not only a set of bat-shaped shurikens, but also smoke bombs, a stylized GPS tracker, a gun and much more. Naturally, such a “weapon” does not pose a real danger, but it is made qualitatively and on a level.
