They affected not only the political sphere (Peter the Great became Emperor, gathered the Senate, etc.), but also the lives of ordinary people: it was forbidden to wear beards, smoking tobacco, growing potatoes, and much more. The changes were so radical that a rumor spread among the people - the king was replaced. Some researchers who adhere to this version provide convincing evidence that the reign of Peter the Great became a turning point in the history of Russia, that it was then that the country went astray from its historical path.

The legend of the origin of tea

Far to the south lives the dragon Lung Wang, King of all dragons. His eyelids drop to the ground before his eyes. If peace reigns between the world of the living and the world of the dead, then the Dragon sleeps, and its eyelashes sprout into the ground, coming to the surface as beautiful plants that heal the soul and body. People called their tender leaves tea. When the fame of the miraculous healing tea spread to many lands around, many people began to come to these parts. And the Dragon needed helpers with knowledge who could make recipes for all ailments. And so a kind of healers appeared, white magicians who kept the secrets of Lun-Wan, the King of all dragons, and these magical herbs. So everything went on until the black magicians decided to take away all this divine knowledge. But the knowledge of the Gods did not go to them. Having destroyed the white magicians, they imprisoned the Dragon in the dungeon, and now, endlessly using its magical powers, they grow huge plantations of magical tea, depleting the Dragon's magical power.

The mystery of the Man in the Iron Mask

The biography of the Man in the Iron Mask, the mysterious prisoner of the Bastille, has been worrying historians and writers for almost three centuries. I must say that most researchers consider the legend of the Iron Mask a myth, a fantasy of the great Voltaire. However, is it really so? The legend of a mysterious man imprisoned in the Bastille for 34 long years has become the basis not only for many works of the classics of world literature from Voltaire to Dumas, but also for more than 50 studies. Whoever was tried on for the role of the Iron Mask! And the mythical twin brother of Louis XIV, and Louis XIV himself, Moliere and high-ranking counts and dukes, criminals with meaningless names, but very terrible crimes. Did anyone manage to find out if the Iron Mask really existed, and who was hiding behind it?

ABOUT SHOOTING:

Filming took place in Russia, the Czech Republic and China. Stereotec specialists, led by Florian Mayer, who created a unique 3D picture in the first 3D film "Wii", worked right on the set in a separate pavilion.

The shooting took place in a huge pavilion at Mosfilm and everyone who got on the set could smell the fresh morning forest.

“It's just that we have real, living trees on the site,” said art director Artur Mirzoyan. “We brought them specially from the Kaluga region, and it was impossible to just cut them down, we needed special equipment so as not to damage the trunks and branches.”

And on the set, we managed to combine two locations at once - a snow-covered forest and casemates, into which the hero of Jason Fleming gets into.

On the Russian side, Alexander Solovyov, a renowned actor and stuntman who starred in dozens of films, was responsible for the stunts. With the director of the action scenes, He Jun, they understood each other perfectly and without an interpreter.

“In Russian films, there are practically no fights of this level,” Solovyov says. “We had a lot to learn from our Chinese colleagues. And they learned improvisation and special techniques from us, and this is also nice.”

After the Mosfilm pavilions, the film set moved to the Krutitsy Compound and the Yusupov Palace, where the scenery of the Moscow Kremlin was created.

The characters of the film are very colorful. For example, Rutger Hauer, who, according to the plot, plays the role of the English ambassador - a freemason.

Other images for the film were also created in accordance with the era, paintings, historical documents, literature were studied - everything that could help recreate the costumes of that time. The most serious work was carried out by costume designers and make-up artists, because absolute accuracy is important in a historical film.

In addition to the images of the heroes, it is necessary to build decorations on the site that require no less scrupulousness. A modern person simply has nothing to compare interior details, street decoration features and architectural objects with. That is why, in order to create the scenery that was built in the Krutitsy courtyard, where the execution scene was filmed, and in the Yusupov Palace, it was necessary to raise archival historical documents and find unknown works of artists.

Spectators can also see amazing details in the scenes filmed in the Yusupov Palace, where the scenery of the Moscow Kremlin's chambers was built. The frames of the film can be viewed in great detail, and the attentive viewer will find a lot of unexpected historical discoveries. Few of us know what the map of the Russian Empire looked like during the time of Peter I. Jason Fleming's character, the English cartographer Jonathan Green, mapped Russia and described its borders very accurately.

The most difficult scenes on the set of Viy-2: The Secret of the Dragon Seal were worked out to the smallest detail, and the filming process was preceded by months of intensive rehearsals.

Legendary stunt coordinator He Jun, one of the leading specialists working on Jackie Chan's projects, honed the skills of actors not only during many hours of rehearsals, but also right on the set. In the costume of actress Yao Xingthong, who plays several roles in the film “Wii-2: The Secret of the Dragon Seal”, all elements are functional, even hairpins! Filming of the princess fight scene lasted 3.5 weeks, it was necessary to show each element of the costume in action, and much will be revealed to the viewer from an unexpected side.

Chinese experts from the stunt group Jackie Chan Stunt Team say they are constantly trying to find some new unexpected moves to amaze the sophisticated viewer. Many amazing decisions were made right on the set and were immediately embodied in spectacular shots.

In the first part of the adventures of the cartographer Jonathan Green - the movie "VIY 3D" Hollywood pro - Bob Beamer was responsible for the sound. He has 8 nominations and 4 Oscars.

And this time the producers invited Beamer's great friend Gary S. Bourgeois. Known for his work not only in big cinema, for example, the film "The Man Who Came Down from Everest" received an Oscar, but also for his collaboration with famous musicians - Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan.

Beamer and Bourgeois are not only colleagues, but also friends who are constantly in competition. At one time, Beamer said that the VIY 3D project became a professional challenge for him. Never before had he combined Russian folklore with the voices of monsters. Now Bourgeois has come to Moscow to demonstrate all his skills, abilities and mastery in terms of sound mixing. "The Secret of the Dragon Seal" delighted Bourgeois, and, as he himself claims, he was doubly pleased to see his old friend Arnold Schwarzenegger on the screen. Therefore, he accepted with great pleasure the offer to work on a project with his participation.

Another Hollywood specialist, Harry Cohen, is responsible for the sound design of "Secret of the Dragon Seal". He was entrusted with composing and reproducing those very voices of monsters.

DRAGON'S CREATION HISTORY:

Work on the character began 2 years before filming. Creating the right image required a painstaking attitude and the adoption of well-established Chinese traditions. Indeed, in Chinese mythology, the dragon is a mythological and fantastic creature, he is the main character of legends, fairy tales, and myths.

A key breakthrough in the work on the character "Dragon" happened after a trip to the character's homeland. Communication with local residents, culturologists, artists, sculptors in Beijing, the search for a traditional image in household items, attention to the architectural features of the “Celestial Empire” prompted the creation of basic sketches of the dragon.

The complexity of the search was that the hero of the film "Viy-2: The Secret of the Dragon Seal" has one feature - he has huge eyelashes that grow into the ground with tea bushes, a parallel with the Slavic character Viy. Combining a traditional image so beloved by all the people of China with the legend of the dragon from the film was a task that the production designer solved masterfully.

“Close communication with the professionals of the PIXOMONDO studio, which developed the dragons for the Game of Thrones, helped in the work. Jackie Chan also gave us consultations on the dragon, he perfectly knows the culture of his country,” Artur Mirzoyan recalls.

SET SECRETS:

Secret #1. "The Secret of the Flying Operator"

The SKY WALKER system, which is used by stuntmen for their stunts, came in handy for the project operator. In filming, he used a nano-rig, which allows high-quality mobile shooting from hands or in hard-to-reach places (the only one in the world in the field of professional cinematography). It is worth adding that the speed of movement of the operator in such a cradle reaches 110 km / h.

Secret #2. "Living Forest at Mosfilm"

In their work, the authors try to get as close as possible to the conditions set in the script. In the pavilions of Mosfilm, the largest chromakey pavilion in the history of our film industry was built, where a living forest was brought. One of the most unusual ingredients on the set was French artificial snow, which fell in large flakes on the shaggy paws of pine trees, creating a fabulous atmosphere.

Secret #3. "Giants on Set"

In the film, powerful magicians will stand in the way of our travelers! In the movie, they are real giants! The actors who played the magicians in the film, and in reality, are more than two meters tall. The casting director had an incredibly difficult task - to find real giants who are able to hold equipment weighing more than thirty kilograms.

Secret #4. "When the wisdom of the past merges with the technologies of the future"

The latest development in the field of stereo shooting was used on the set - unique ALEXA M XR cameras, knocked down under the latest 3D rigs of the German company STEREOTEC. There were only six such cameras in the world at the time of filming, and four of them were on the set of the film “Viy-2: The Secret of the Dragon Seal”.

ABOUT THE CAST:

A unique international team worked on the film (over 540 people from 10 countries in total). The film mainly involves actors from Russia, China, America, England. Many of them are also world-class stars - in addition to the fact that we will meet again with the English cartographer Jonathan Green played by Jason Fleming and Lord Dudley in the person of Charles Dance, we will get acquainted with completely new heroes and real legends - Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rutger Hauer, Martin Klebba, Christopher Fairbank.

But if our actors and film crew have quite a lot in common with colleagues from Europe and America to work together and make friends, all the more so we managed to get such experience during the filming of the film "Viy 3D", then in the second part the cast was also decorated with Chinese movie stars Among them is the popular Chinese comedian Li Yu (Li Yu), also known under the pseudonym "Little Li", who already has more than 50 acting credits. Yao Xing Tong, who for the Russian-speaking half of the team acquired the middle name Anna Yao.

No less famous and talented are Ma Li (MaLi), Li Meng Meng (Li Meng Meng). Also appearing in the film are the Luu Brothers, three twin brothers Mark, Lance and Charles, who appear exclusively together on screen and in real life. And, of course, Jackie Chan himself, who, in fact, although he is a Man of the World, remains true to the culture of his country. For the entire project team, this was both a serious challenge and a kind of experiment, and an exciting adventure that turned into invaluable experience.
