Let's talk about the contradictions of "Naruto" - Anime on DTF
And there are enough contradictions. Here you have 1000 and 1 filler, sometimes banal stories and pianos in the bushes. But these are all obvious shortcomings. Although there are much more serious problems in the plot and in the world, I would like to talk about problems that are a little more subtle, which, however, do not really interfere with viewing, but I want to talk about them.
11529 views
One of these - hand seals
And the problem is not that they exist in principle. It is necessary to somehow explain how all sorts of techniques are created. Potterian has wands made from dragon veins and phoenix feathers and other magical ingredients. Although, it is still interesting how spells are created, how they are transmitted and how they are received by other wands. But now is not about that. In Naruto, however, hand seals are used to create "spells". And their essence is to manipulate the flows of chakra that shinobi have and the result of which will be a “spell”. Conditionally speaking.
And here the problem is not even that sometimes they take a long time to fold. There are techniques that require you to fold 44 different hand positions. This, of course, is a big question of the value of such a technique, because it will take a very long time to fold it, but if you are Hatake Kakashi, then you generally don’t care how many characters there are in some kind of hand seal.
And it's not me sped up GIF
Most of the hand seals are still not that long, and the shinobi are so experienced that it takes a couple of seconds to put together more or less simple seals.
The problem is that most shinobi don't use hand seals at all, or only use a couple.
Let's look at specific examples
Deidara
Deidara's key technique was explosions. He would take a special clay, saturate it with his chakra, and then explode it using the Seal of Opposition, and this seal can not even be considered a seal, because it consists of one position of the hand. For the most part, it serves precisely to activate its technique.
We also have Gaara
Of course, I can be wrong, but it seems to me that he did not use any seal at all, and all his techniques are tied to sand. Both Gaara and Deidara and most of the characters, if they use hand seals, then these are either monosyllabic seals of two three characters, or even one character.
Even Naruto himself didn't use any long seals. Most often, he used the shadow cloning technique, which involves placing a pair of fingers together.
But hand seals are still used
And most often they are used by Sharingan owners.
For example Hatake Kakashi almost always uses seals. Moreover, there are few techniques in his arsenal that do not require seals. In addition, this is due to the fact that Kakashi copies techniques. He doesn't even need to teach them, it's enough to look at them once with the Sharingan.
Uchiha Sasuke uses seals extensively for both Chidori and fire techniques. Itachi used hand seals extensively, and anyone who uses fire techniques uses seals.
And, by and large, my complaint is that in the anime, in the manga, the use of seals is not shown much, and this is a very interesting feature of the world. For me, a good use of seals shows professionalism in a character.
Positions for the Fireball Technique. Sasuke used these seals throughout the
storyline. Moreover, because this feature could be revealed incredibly interesting. For example, imagine how, in the heat of battle, one shinobi tries to fold a long seal, while another interferes with him and has to constantly dodge.
And what is most interesting, towards the end, they revealed to us a full-fledged battle with hand seals. I'm talking about the final fight between Naruto and Sasuke. There were two very interesting moments.
First of all, Naruto at the beginning of the fight was constantly trying to make a seal to create clones. This seal is very simple and consists of one position of the hands, but he still could not do it, because Sasuke was well aware that in terms of clones, Naruto had no equal and he interrupted the creation of the seal so that Naruto could not summon them. Now imagine how Naruto would have to if he folded a seal that consists of at least 5 positions.
Secondly, Sasuke was able to seal the fire technique using his hand and Naruto's hand. Just look at the GIF
That feeling when your hands accidentally touch each other
And it's a pity that this was not shown to us during the entire plot. This is a very interesting feature. But thank you for at least showing it in the finale. And the problem, as I said, is that this feature is simply not shown. It is, but most often happens behind the scenes. This is the problem with most anime. There are 700 episodes in Naruto (a little more, actually), but in those 700 episodes, there was no place to constantly show some features. And this applies not only to hand seals.
And the problem of hand seals, in fact, is not such a big problem, but it goes in conjunction with another, which is already very significant.
Limited technician
There is something special about those shinobi who hardly use hand seals - it is one or more key techniques that make them damn strong: Naruto with tails, Gaara with sand, Deidara with explosions, Hidan with immortality.
And the eternal lazy person Shikamaru will become a symbol of limited techniques
And so that you immediately understand what I'm talking about, I will give an example, and although you will understand everything, my story will not end there.
Shikamaru. Name me at least one technique of this character that is not tied to the technique of shadow imitation. And you can't. Because all of his techniques are completely variations of his Hiden techniques (secret techniques passed down within the clan). But if you climb into Narutoviki, you can find out about two more techniques that Shikamaru showed, but they were only once in the story.
Do you understand what I mean? Yes, but I will continue.
Again, let's look at the example of Deidara, Gaara, Hidan and Naruto. They all have this feature.
All of Deidara's techniques involve explosions, that's all he can do. Gaara's techniques are based on absolute protection and sand. Naruto leaves due to the huge chakra and the power of the nine-tailed, from which this chakra is taken, in addition to his natural reserves from belonging to the Uzumaki clan. Hidan is generally the strangest of all. He did not fold at all one seal. Of course, we know little about his biography, but he has only one technique, which, in my opinion, is not a technique at all, but a religious ritual.
Let's analyze each in detail.
Hidan
We have two Hidan fights that we can form an opinion on. And in both cases, Hidan did not use: techniques, kunai, shurikens, or at least some small strategy that would not be tied to "drink the enemy's blood", because as soon as Shikamaru found out about this feature, all subsequent strategies of Hidan were defeated .
Hidan can be compared to Orochimaru. Both of them achieved immortality in their time, but not complete immortality. And it is worth paying attention to where they spent their immortality. Orochimaru used it to learn more techniques and become stronger. Hidan wasted his immortality on being idle and praising his God instead of learning new techniques. And what do we see as a result? Where is Hidan and where is Orochimaru?
We know the outcome of Hidan. But would he have been if Hidan had taken the time to learn other techniques, to develop himself as a shinobi? Because he relied on his main technique and mistakenly thought that it would save him and allow him to emerge victorious from any fight. And in the end, immortality, which he so hoped for, became the main cause of his death. And remember why Gaara lost to Deidara - because Gaara relied on his main technique, sand, and the enemy took advantage of this. As a result, Gaara received a blow from his own sand.
Deidara
Same with Deidara. And he is just as strongly turned on his feature, which is the explosions. Just as Hidan screamed with a demand to die in the name of his God, so Deidara, for any reason, screams how beautiful his explosions are.
But it's the same situation here, all of his techniques are variations of his basic explosion technique. Even Deidara's shadow clone is made from clay and can explode. And now I have a question about the performance of such shinobi as Hidan and Deidara in those days when they were not renegades.
For example, not all missions can be sent to Deidara, who uses explosions to accomplish goals. And he, apparently, does not own other techniques, since he does not demonstrate them.
And in the same way the question of his death arises. Would he lose to Sasuke if he had a much larger pool of techniques? Because Sasuke used many different techniques in this fight: lightning techniques in the form of Chidori and its variations, Tsukuyomi, snakes, a cursed seal, actively used throwing weapons, used a sword and a call, the latter saved his life.
What did Deidara use? Variations of clay and explosion. Yes, some variations are very inventive, like the Clay Minion Technique, but Deidara still has all the earth and explosion verse techniques.
Naruto
This problem has not bypassed even the main character. Naruto throughout the anime strove for power, including to save Sasuke, but still in the end it turned out that he did not learn many techniques. I will not touch on some obviously unnecessary and low-level techniques, like reincarnation.
In general, let's look at Naruto's techniques: summoning, shadow cloning (and derivatives of it, such as mass shadow cloning), rasengan (and derivatives of it, in the form of rasenshuriken and bijub bomb), hermit mode (and those techniques that appear together with the mode) and techniques tied to the power of the nine-tailed (Kurama's chakra mode, etc. ). It seems like a little, but Naruto, like the rest of the characters that I talked about, develops what he has and combines what he already knows. For example, the Rasenshuriken is a progression of the Rasengan. And the combination of Kurama's Chakra Mode and natural chakra gives new powers, and so on. As a result, several more or less strong techniques grow in the form of various offshoots.
Although this problem is not as noticeable with Naruto as with Hidan or Deidara, it is still a problem. Because, it would seem, Naruto wants to become stronger so much, but his supply of techniques is incredibly meager. Naruto even specially left with Jiara to train, but he returned without having learned any technique. Well, I mean, he certainly learned some techniques. For example, to stand on the water, but it's so-so.
You have no idea how happy I was when Naruto uses a technique in Boruto that we haven't seen him perform before. And although this is a very simple technique, a banal wall of the earth, it has a good effect on the image of the character, because it indicates that he has been training.
If you go to the Naruto wiki and go to the page "Naruto Uzumaki", then in the character's characteristics you can see that Naruto owns all the elements. Including the element of water. Has anyone ever seen Naruto use even a drop of water? For example, during the war, Naruto, having the chakra of other tailed ones, used a lava rasengan. But why do you need a lava rasengan at all, if a regular rasengan is already an excellent technique.
And this limited technique is sometimes very difficult to explain.
Let's take the Rasengan as an example. It is a complex technique that requires incredible chakra control, however, most high-level shinobi possess chakra control. And if the low prevalence of the Rasengan outside of Konoha can be explained by the fact that, in fact, the Rasengan is a Hiden technique, that is, a technique transmitted within the clan (and in fact it is, because the technique was created by Minato Namikaze (well, or rediscovered, as you wish) and it is owned either by his relatives, or those close to him and his son, such as Jiraiya (and this will play badly in the matter of the secret identity of Kashin Koji) and Konohomaru), then it is very difficult to explain why the rasengan is not common in Konoha itself.
I doubt it would be difficult for Hiruzen Sarutobi to master this technique. I doubt that Tsunade, who specializes in medical techniques, which in itself requires strong chakra control, would have had any difficulty learning the rasengan.
Or here's an even easier example - the shadow cloning technique that became the symbol of Naruto and we are explained why exactly Naruto can use this technique. Because Naruto has a lot of chakra from belonging to the Uzumaki clan, plus the tailed chakra. Due to the large volumes of chakra, he can use clones.
Clone Technique Creator - Tobirama Senju
But why aren't the other jinchūriki using shadow clones? In theory and practice, anyone with a tailed being should use shadow clones. And here it will not be possible to justify the presence of a small amount of chakra, because an endless chakra generator is sealed in each. So why don't they use shadow clones? Why don't anyone with a lot of chakra like Kisame use shadow clones?
And these are just a few examples of such general techniques that do not require belonging to any element. But, for some reason, no one uses them. And it's weird. In a world where everything is based on power, no one takes advantage of all opportunities.
P.S. for this item.
Against this background, several shinobi stand out, who made sure that they had techniques for all occasions in their arsenal. I won't talk about any minor characters, just because I can't remember them. I'll talk about the characters of the first plan. About Sasuke and Kakashi.
With Kakashi, everything is as simple as possible. He is both an active hand seal user (see gif from the beginning) and, most importantly, became famous as the "Copy Ninja" and is rumored to have 1000 techniques. And constantly demonstrated various ninjutsu. For example, he owns both Chidori and Rasengan. He demonstrated techniques and elements of water and earth and lightning and wind. Not to mention the Sharingan techniques, and even having lost it and thus losing access to the raikiri, he creates a new technique to replace the lost raikiri. And Kakashi is a real shinobi, you understand why he becomes Hokage.
That is, it would seem that he has a Sharingan and can relax, however, he did not relax, but rather enriched his arsenal of techniques.
Sasuke is not so obvious. And his desire to diversify techniques, in my opinion, can be justified by the desire to defeat his brother. Let's start with the fact that Sasuke actively uses kunai, shuriken and fishing line. He used the line to maneuver through the trees in the Forest of Death in the first season and if I'm not mistaken, he used it in the final fight against Naruto.
He also uses a sword. And all this already puts him in a more advantageous position than Naruto, who only uses a kunai. Sasuke even has a seal wrapped around his arm, from which he summons shurikens. Again, he used this seal against Itachi and in the final fight against Naruto.
Otherwise, of course, the differences are not so big. Somewhere there are more technicians, somewhere less. However, Sasuke's approach to the battle is much more thorough than Naruto's. I repeat, this dude has a shuriken seal on his arm!!! He changed more often, for example, his appeals. At first, he was closely associated with snakes, but shed not just a skin, but the very essence of a snake, and the next call was a bird.
Even when Sasuke lost his arm, he learned how to make seals with one hand while Naruto:
And let's make me a prosthesis that will absorb all the techniques to make my life easier
Important fights nobody saw
Actually, it's not such a big problem, but it still annoys me.
The bottom line is this - most of the key and important fights in the world of "Naruto" no one saw. And you might think: "Well, you didn't see it, so what of it." Let me explain with two examples.
Sasuke vs Itachi
To be fair, there were observers in this battle, in the person (and in one) White and Black Zetsu. But the problem here is that even if Zetsu told the Akatsuki members the details after the fight, I doubt that someone took and wrote down everything from his words for "future" descendants.
That is, there must have been something like this:
-And then he used Amaterasu
-Amaterasu! What are you!?
-Yes, and then how to summon a dragon from lightning and Itachi like a shandarahnet-
Wow ...
Zetsu and Tobi
But the problem, in my opinion, is that the rest did not know about the events of the battle at all. My suggestion may seem wild, but it was necessary to make Zetsu a kind of archivist and that during the fight between Sasuke and Itachi, he would look out from behind the wall with a camera, recording the entire fight. And Zetsu would record all the fights that Akatsuki tested. And then, when the war ended, the heroes would have found all these records and could have learned a little more about the events. And most importantly, battle records could be used as training material.
And if in this case it is still possible to argue, but in my opinion in the following example it will no longer work.
Naruto vs. Sasuke.
And I'm talking about the second battle, because the first one can be left out, because at that time it was, after all, a small-town conflict. And the second fight was no longer just to close the differences between the "friends", but the whole world was at stake, because if Naruto had lost, Sasuke would have killed all the kage and rebuilt the world according to his views.
And I'm sure they didn't explain anything to anyone after the fight. Not only not them, but also Kakashi and Sakura. Because well, this is such an event that can be described by the word "inside". Let's say Shikamaru meets Naruto, but he doesn't have a hand, and Naruto won't explain to him why he doesn't have a hand. He will say that he lost everything in the war. Yes, even if they just tell something like “Yes, Sasuke and I had a fight, and he came to his senses and we both lost an arm”, it will still not be the same as if everyone saw this fight.
It's like Harry Potter killing Voldemort in the woods when no one is around. Imagine, Harry comes out of the forest and declares that he killed the Dark Lord, and in response to him: "Really?"
And although it may seem that this is not a problem at all, but it is a problem, because the world of "Naruto" does not react in any way, does not interact with ongoing events. And okay, if ordinary residents are neither sleep nor spirit, this can be understood. But even ordinary shinobi are often unaware. Remember Shino Aburame, who was offended that he was not called to save Sasuke. Here it is the same. The whole story is known to us because it was shown to us from third non-existent eyes, and then for us there are gaps in the story, in which case what can we say about other characters, who, I'm sure, don't even know half of it.
And if they do, they don't show it to us. Not only in a banal way, like one character resorting to another and screaming in horror that Sasuke and Naruto had a fight, but even some kind of reactions or some kind of words that would confirm the awareness of the characters.
And that's what I really don't like. The story, for the most part, happened for us and the main characters, and to a very small extent for the rest of the world. Of course, the world is faced with changes, but few people know why these changes happened, what drove them.
I immediately remember the third season finale of "Attack on Titan" where all the inhabitants of Paradise were told about all the events that the heroes learned. And you understand that it concerns everyone, it happens to everyone.
I don't remember at the end of Naruto on TV or in the newspapers about the crazy mother of the Sage of the Six Paths who got out of Madara and about how Sasuke and Naruto fought in the Valley of the End.
Summing up
These three problems that I have described are lore problems, problems of the world. They didn't affect me the first time, and probably not even the next time I watched it. Even now they don’t really affect me, yes, I notice them, yes, they infuriate me.
