The world's first compact printer-scanner-copier, presented by a group of researchers from Singapore.
Graduate engineers from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Blacksmith Group, have released the world's first compact 3D printer that also has scanner and copier functions and can make digitized models of small objects.
The device is called the Blacksmith Genesis, and it allows users without deep knowledge of 3D printing software to scan any object, then edit its digital model on a computer and print a new "improved" copy. nine0003
The high-tech device comes in a black aluminum case and weighs about 6 kilograms. It is equipped with a two-inch LCD display, Wi-Fi module, built-in SD card reader and USB port for instant printing of models from memory.
Unlike other commercial 3D printers, the Blacksmith Genesis uses an innovative rotating platform to scan and print objects. This patented platform allows you to scan the object from all 360 degrees. nine0003
In addition, Blacksmith Genesis allows you to print objects up to 6.5 liters, which is twice the volume of parts produced by 3D printers of the same size. The resolution of the device is 50 micrometers, that is, reproductions are twice as detailed as when using other similar devices. A 5-megapixel camera is used to scan objects, which helps to create a digital copy of an object in just 6 minutes.
The Blacksmith Genesis is also the first 3D printer to offer real-time remote monitoring and automatic error detection thanks to its built-in camera. Simply put, this feature allows users to control and manage the printing process with their smartphone from anywhere in the world.
"We designed the Blacksmith Genesis to make 3D printing easy and affordable for the average consumer," says co-designer Dr. Alex Pui Tze Sian. "Most of the 3D printers currently on the market on the market are not very convenient as their 3D models and drawings usually have to be developed from scratch using a computer, however thanks to our device users do not have to design the original work from scratch - they can simply use our Blacksmith Sorcerer software.
