New Monoprice Dual Color 3D Printer or Flashforge Creator X OEM?

E-commerce and direct selling company Monoprice has announced its latest offering, the Dual Color Extrusion 3D printer. Founded in 2002, Monoprice was originally a cable company. After getting a little familiar with this category, the company moved on to other areas such as camera accessories, audio equipment, TV wall mounts, etc. At present, the company's annual turnover is $120 million.
Obviously, now Monoprice has decided to become a serious player in the hardware market, since it is engaged in 3D printers. Originally announced at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, Monoprice's debut is a low-cost two-color 3D printer. The new 3D printer from Monoprice is equipped with a matte black body, an MK-8 dual extruder, and a heated metal build platform. The working volume of the printer is 225 x 145 x 150 mm and the layer thickness is 0.1 mm. The device prints at a speed of 24 cubic centimeters per hour and costs almost $1,200.
It is almost obvious that the new printer from Monoprice is identical to the Creator X 3D printer from the Chinese manufacturer Flashforge. It turns out that this is an OEM version of the Creator X printer? Compare the specifications and photos of the Creator X 3D printer below:
FlashForge is selling the Creator X + 2 skeins of filament + 1 SD card + Free Shipping for $1299. With all these extras and free shipping, Monoprice's $1199 price tag is very attractive to individuals and small businesses.
"We are committed to making a significant impact in the rapidly growing 3D printing industry," said Luke Grant, vice president of marketing at Monoprice. The company is also aiming to create a new community of 3D printer users to "destroy the notion that these devices are only for power users with a technical background," said Anthony Giech, product director for the camera category at Monoprice.
The official launch of the product is scheduled for May 22nd.
Package contents:
1 x 3D printer
1 x Dual extruder
2 x Filament holder
1 x 1 kg skein of white PLA filament, 1.75 mm
1 x 1 kg roll of black PLA filament, 1.75 mm
2 x filament guide tubes
1 x set of bolts and hex keys

NANO DIMENSION LEADS THE 3D PRINTED ELECTRONICS MARKET WITH AME TECHNOLOGY
You are here
Home
Since launching its own technology and industrial 3D printer in 2014, OEM Nano Dimension has made a name for itself in the additively manufactured electronics (AME) world.
Continuously improving its flagship DragonFly LDM® 3D printer, the company is now doubling its high-performance electronic device (Hi-PED™) 3D printing capacity, and has made significant strides in recent years. Hi-PED™ often cannot be produced using traditional printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing processes.

Yoav Stern, CEO of Nano Dimension, states: “We are a 3D printing company for customers who need to stay at the forefront of electronics manufacturing. If you are innovating in the field of hardware and electronics design, you need an additive manufacturing solution that will enable you to achieve what no one else has done in the field of electronics design, and do it faster and easier than ever before.”
DragonFly LDM
DragonFly LDM® is the driving force behind AME Nano Dimension's capabilities, combining free-form geometry with built-in 3D electronics. Equipped with two separate print heads, the system can simultaneously apply conductive silver nano ink and dielectric photopolymer ink. The former make up the bulk of the printed circuit connections, while the latter serve to provide mechanical support, thermal resistance, and electrical insulation to the surrounding structure.
The system is well suited for rapid prototyping and is safe to use both in the office and in the lab. Starting with a Gerber or CAD file, the user can create custom Hi-PED™ such as complex layered circuits with a couple of mouse clicks. The system's AME technology allows the use of many built-in electronic components, including capacitors, antennas, coils, and transducers, to name but a few. In addition, it is possible to install electronics in non-traditional cubic packages, while they are separated from the rest of the printed circuit boards.
Stern adds: “Nano Dimension bridges the gap between PCBs and semiconductor integrated circuits. A revolution at the touch of a button - from CAD to a functional and high-performance AME device in a matter of hours, purely through consumables. ”

AME 3D Printing for ISS
While the AME process has applications in many industries, from medicine to the automotive industry, one project stands out in collaboration with communications technology firm Harris Corporation (now L3Harris). The partners have been working on 3D printing radio frequency (RF) circuitry for transmitting data to and from the ISS. Traditional RF circuit manufacturing is usually a very tedious trial and error process with numerous design iterations.
Dr. Arthur Paolella, Senior Scientist at L3Harris, said: “The application of 3D printing is very broad, touching almost every aspect of research, design and manufacturing. The main goal of this project is to conduct an experiment consisting of an additive manufacturing integrated communication circuit and analyze the RF properties of these materials in the space environment.
