Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I will briefly talk about the experience of using polymer clay for a printed product. I came up with an absolutely random idea to make a beautiful cryptex using polymer clay, so that the numbers and letters on the rings are multi-colored. Having a printer with the ability to print two colors, I did not do it for reasons that it would not work because of the small details. Yes, and the print time on the Y-extruder increases significantly.

I can't say anything about which clay is better, everything turned out perfectly from it, in my opinion. I didn’t prepare the plastic surface in any way (but I think degreasing is never superfluous). All printed in ABS plastic by Greg.

After filling in the recesses of the plastic, it had to be baked. From the performance characteristics of polymer clay it follows that it is necessary to bake for 30 minutes at a temperature of 130 degrees. From the performance characteristics of ABS plastic it follows (with various modifications) that the softening temperature is 118 degrees. Without drawing any conclusions from this information, we get this:

All rings are tapered. I baked on the printer table covered with a cardboard box on top. Empirically, it was determined that the maximum temperature for baking with ABS plastic was 110 degrees. Even though the clay says to bake at 130 degrees and 30 minutes, mine hardened at 110 degrees and 45 minutes.

Followed by post-processing with files, sandpaper, etc. Interestingly, polymer clay does not clog the abrasive, which means it has polymerized.
