3D printing: a shoemaker for himself

For example, Cristina Franceschini, a young Italian designer, combines classics and 3D printing technologies in her amazing works.

So far, the Cristina Franceschini collection consists of 10 pairs of gorgeous shoes that seem to come true from magical dreams. In fact, the designer uses lightweight and practical nylon to make luxurious shoes. He creates this beauty with the help of his 3D printer from the Italian company WASP.

The speed of 3D printing of a marvelous shoe is from 3 to 9 hours. As Christina Franceschini herself says, the use of this technology has greatly simplified the process of making shoes and greatly reduced the time. Those design ideas that were previously impossible to realize technologically, with the help of the 3D printing process, have become easily accessible. Now you can not just dream, but create the most amazing and extraordinary forms.

Kristina started mastering 3D printing technology three years ago. Then I bought my first WASP 3D printer. Today, the designer already uses other 3D printers - photopolymer and SLS. The fact is that the artist creates not only magically beautiful shoes, but also wonderful jewelry and various accessories.

Cristina Franceschini is currently working with 3dshoes.com and learning new materials for her amazing designs. After all, the company uses a wide range of materials in its production - from titanium to Kevlar, from gold-plated steel to ceramics, including plastic and rubber.

What will the shoes of the future look like with 3D printing?

The most amazing thing is that 3D printing technology allows you to create both individual parts in the manufacture of shoes, and "print" shoes as a whole. So says designer Pavel Podsednikova from Prague. No lining, sole, or heel support needed. Moreover, designers and technologists today responsibly declare that with the help of 3D printing it is possible to produce not only a shoe, but also an entire boot, in one piece.

At the same time, as you have already seen, the shape of such shoes will be perfect, and not only in terms of aesthetics. After all, printing on a 3D printer allows you to create shoes or sandals individually for each person, taking into account the structural features of his feet. Shoes are extremely comfortable and comfortable. And that means goodbye, tired legs and corn patches! How many people suffering from foot problems will get the opportunity to relieve their pain . ..

However, this is not all. The fact is that very soon you and I, in order to buy a couple of new shoes, will not need to leave the house, go to the store, try on a dozen pairs of shoes, being nervous and annoyed, wasting time and energy ...

It will be enough to buy a 3D printer, download a 3D printing program from the Internet and install it on your computer. Scan the soles of your feet, putting this data into the computer's memory. And finally, choose a suitable 3D printing model for the shoes of your dreams in the online store. And... press the button.

By the way, the 3D printing model can also be downloaded for free, without buying it in the online store. Since the most simple and not burdened with special design solutions, projects will be freely available on the worldwide web. Well, and most importantly, for those who like to do something with their own hands, to embody their own creative developments, there is a huge field for activity. Your own shoemaker - it's just great! Because you will create something special, different from others, completely exclusive . ..

Well, when the shoes are worn out, they can be turned into completely new ones. Simply by recycling the material from which they are made, using the same 3D printer.

According to Mari Huang, co-founder of the Continuum Fashion project, 3D printed shoes will greatly simplify production. Because the most trendy models will be made to order in the shortest possible time. And delivered quickly, without any extra time. After all, for this it will not be necessary to wait until the next batch of goods is formed, shipped, etc. Logistics, promotion - all this will change radically.

With the expansion of production, new production areas and additional human resources will not be needed. All you have to do is install a few new 3D printers...

3D printing - the possibilities are endless

Of course, 3D printing technology is not yet as perfect as we would like. There are active developments of new engineering solutions.

Matt Flame and Tim Gartner, two former students at the University of Philadelphia, created a new Footprint concept. These two young designers have managed to develop an entirely new 3D modeling program for foot scanning.

This program makes it possible to produce shoes that are extremely comfortable to wear. Because it can create three-dimensional mesh structures that, as it were, reproduce the shock-absorbing characteristics of foamed ethyl vinyl acetate. This material is used to make shoes all over the world. However, that's not all. The program is able to manipulate cells - their shape, position, size. Thus, it is possible to create individual models of shoes, taking into account all the physiological characteristics of the feet of a particular person. The designers used themselves as test subjects and were quite pleased with the result.

To make the sole of the Footprint model on a 3D printer, they selected a flexible, soft and plastic material. This is a Ninjaflex plastic thread, which has great resistance under load. Also, young designers believe that other plastics can be used for 3D printing shoes. It is a DuraForm FLEX Nylon nylon powder that is processed by Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) to rapidly melt and cure the sole part of the shoe.

Designers make the upper part of Footprint shoes from shrink yarn on a special knitting machine. However, here, too, a software three-dimensional model is used to design shoe parts.

Today, new materials are being developed for making shoes using 3D printers.
Recreus has recently developed and already manufactures Filaflex flexible plastic filament. This material, unlike traditional ABS and PLA plastics for 3D printing, does not injure human skin when wearing shoes made on a 3D printer. On the contrary, shoes made of Filaflex perfectly fit the foot, look great and are comfortable even with long wear.

The founder of the company, Ignacio Garcia, believes that Filaflex shoes made on a home 3D printer are in no way inferior to purchased shoe models.

Can you imagine robot boots that can control every movement of a human foot? Yes, it already exists!

US company SOLS, which produces specialized orthopedic shoes using 3D printing technologies, has literally made a breakthrough in the shoe industry. This new product is Adaptiv, an innovative orthopedic boot. These are not just shoes, but a whole system of built-in pressure sensors and gyroscopes with an individual setting of a 3D printed shell. Yes, this is exactly what robotic boots are, which are able to effectively support the human foot, ankle joints and even other parts of the body. At the same time - to control every movement! This is done by distributing air and liquid pressure inside the boots.

Advances in the development of so-called soft robots have been used in the design of these boots. The cellular structure of the boots reacts to every human movement, imitating the biomechanics of walking.

Adaptiv boots are 3D printed from several parts. First, internal boots are created from scanned materials. The insoles are strictly individual, equipped with shock absorbers and air chambers. The inner boot is then inserted into a special shell. And between these two layers are motion sensors. Since the Adaptiv boots are tall and wrap around the ankles, silicone air cushions are also located in this area. Moreover, the air pressure in these shock absorbers can be increased or decreased, depending on the purpose for which these boots will be used.

Adaptiv boots are made using Elasto Plastic. This is a very elastic material, it is great for 3D printers - a laser sintering method.

Adaptiv shoe design is designed by SOLS in collaboration with design firm Continuum Fashion, well known in the fashion industry.

Orthopedic robotic boots are perfect not only for people who need extra comfort. The main thing is the sports direction, according to SOLS. Adaptiv sports shoes help athletes train more efficiently and protect against injury. In addition, these boots are simply very beautiful. The LED lighting of the air chambers, which “works” while driving, is stylish.
