“All good things must come to an end”

-Geoffery Chaucer

Before we knew it, PA STEAM FEST had come upon us, and we were beyond excited to see the public’s reaction to the final product and the results of our fruit and labor. Our anticipation was going through the roof as we were finally unveiling the collaboration with The Geek Grid Studios. We received positive remarks about our printers as they were pushed to the limit creating 55 of the individual components. During the two-day event we were able to make connections with attendees and highlight 3D printing and the Mantis in all its wonder. This was an incredible opportunity for both companies to come together to create a beautiful piece of cosplay. Our final thoughts are that getting out into the public at events is a valuable venture and we can’t wait to see what event we attend next.

“The T60 series of Power Armor saw extensive use by the Brotherhood of Steel after the defeat of the Enclave. Using the Enclave’s technology, Scribes were able to mass-produce the T60 armor. It became the standard issue power armor for the Brotherhood of Steel by 2287.”

The T60 project required a lot of work to get it to the completed stage that it’s at. We are beyond thrilled to finally be towards the end of our journey and to share this awesome project to the public. After all of the printing was completed, parts glued together, sanded and painted, we ran a final test to see if all the parts would fit Kat perfectly.

We’re excited to share that we’ve completed 3D Printing all of the T-60 parts for the Full-Sized Armor set!

There’s still a lot of work ahead in the hand finishing, painting and assembly departments… but it feels good to complete this big milestone.

We’d like to share these two videos. In the first, our team member David explains what went into 3D Printing this entire suit of T-60 Armor on the Mantis fleet.

In the second video, Rob explains what goes into painting these parts to achieve the desired “distressed” look. Special effort must be made to achieve realistic scars, rust and patina.

Once these steps are completed, the suit of armor will go to our project partner Kat Mahoney at TheGeekGrid to carry out final fitting. We’re very excited to see the complete armor set worn for the first time!

The complete T-60 Armor Set will be revealed to the public at the upcoming STEAMFest 2021. Learn more about STEAMFest 2021 here.

How do we double check if our 3D Models of the T-60 armor will fit our human model?

Take a look at this installment and let Stevie explain and show you the process!

To ensure our T-60 armor fits properly, we needed a life-size body cast. In the DIY spirit of this project, we turned to a tried and true maker material; Duct Tape.

Take a look at some photos from the day! If you’d like to see some video footage of the process, head over to our project partner’s website, TheGeekGrid (formerly WeDiscoverGeeks)
