Huge 3D printed diorama from World of Warcraft entered the Guinness Book of Records

Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of the popular game World of Warcraft, has announced an expansion called Battle for Azeroth. Attendees of BlizzCon 2017 were presented with a large-scale diorama showing one of the battles of the new series of the saga, consisting of more than ten thousand 3D-printed models of unique playable characters and setting a Guinness record.

The trailer for the new addition to the well-known game tells about the siege of Lordaeron - the capital of the kingdom of the same name. The video itself is great, but what could be even better than computer animation? How about a huge diorama with a castle surrounded by thousands of warrior figurines?

And not just warriors: the vast majority of 3D printed models are based on the characters of real players, many of whom were present at the rally and were happy to look for their avatars on the battlefield. To help fans with this daunting task (10,000+ figurines, is it a joke?), Blizzard has provided players with a special app that displays the location of each character.

Models are printed on desktop FDM 3D printers (probably Stratasys uPrint SE Plus) in two colors, showing the hero's belonging to the Alliance or Horde, and NPCs received a full coloring. The exposition spreads over an area of 120 square meters, becoming the largest diorama in the world based on a video game.

The achievement was confirmed by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records, who registered the record and issued an official certificate to the creators. We offer two videos for viewing - the Battle for Azeroth expansion trailer and a demonstration of a huge 3D printed diorama:
